Futurist Message #3 PDF Print E-mail

Futurist Message #3:

Most of the futurist messages have been focused on Bay Area jobs and local industries like electric autos (Tesla Motors), fuel efficient hybrids (Honda) and natural gas powered vehicles (Nissan Motors) , solar energy production (Solyndra, Nanosolar and Sun). With the dramatic events in Japan I would like to take a look further out at atomic power.

What is the status of atomic power?? President Obama was extremely positive about atomic power before the catastrophe in Japan. I believe he will give this more careful thought now. Many obstacles remain….the process of storing nuclear waste, the old nuclear plants that have been relicensed past their designed life time and the fact that these older nuclear power plants were built on or near earthquake faults, next to major water sources and large concentrations of people. This is a major problem that needs to be solved. Many new jobs will be created in the process. What do you think will be done here?

The April Dinner Meeting’s topic is a panel discussion with Bay Area leaders focused on  the “Future of Quality Professionals”. It is a joint meeting to be held in Newark, California so be prepared for short travel. I will be there early to talk to interested “futurist” members.
