Statistics & Reliability Group Meeting: May 9

Friends,

Please forward this invitation to your friends and colleagues,
and RSVP to me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) if you plan to attend.

The Statistics & Reliability Discussion Group cordially invites you to
attend an outstanding FREE presentation:

TOPIC: Process Capability Analysis, New Approaches and Better Results.

SPEAKER: Dr. John J. Flaig

Chair and Moderator: Dr. John Flaig
Assistant Chair: Dr. Don Mintz
Corporate Sponsor: Applied Materials
Sponsor: Mr. Ravi Chandra from Applied Materials

Abstract:

I will discuss the evolution of process capability concept and the
metrics that have been developed over the last sixty years. From
Dr. Juran's basic concept to the development of more than one
hundred different process capability indices given by Johnson
and Kotz.

I will discuss the various definitions of process capability (so in case
you thought there was just one) you might be surprised. Also, we
will cover the different views of what capability means to
Operations people, Engineering people, Quality people, and
Management people. The shocking truth will be revealed.

I will discuss the latest and most advanced process capability
metrics based on my numerous published research papers. So
if you think Cpk is best process capability metric, then I think
you will find this presentation enlightening.

Biography:

Dr. Flaig is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality (ASQ)
and an ASQ instructor and is managing director of Applied
Technology, a consulting and training company (www.e-at-usa.com).
He has published over twenty peer reviewed research papers
in areas such as process capability analysis, adaptive control
charts, factor effects analysis, optimal resource allocation,
and supplier management. He was formerly a member of
the Editorial Board of Quality Engineering a journal of the
ASQ, and Associate Editor of Quality Technology and
Quantitative Management a journal of the International
Chinese Association of Quantitative Management.

ARCHIVED PRESENTATIONS

To access any of our archived presentation files on the Statistics &
Reliability Yahoo Group Site, you need to be a Member of the Group
and you NEED to have a Yahoo ID.

If you DO NOT have a Yahoo ID, you will need to create a Yahoo ID first
and then go to:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Statistics-Reliability_Discussion_Group/

Then, on the Right side, click on the blue box "Join This Group!"

If you DO have a Yahoo ID and are a Member of the Statistics & Reliability
Discussion Group, then go to:

http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Statistics-Reliability_Discussion_Group/files

and click on file names you wish to download.

Silly problems that happen often at this Yahoo Group Site:

1. Files cannot be downloaded! The problems are usually with Yahoo.
So, you may need to try again later.
2. It is a good idea to reset your computer by restarting again, or
shutdown and wait a minute or two then restart again.
3. Finally, check to make sure your computer is set up to accept
at least 3MB files.

NEWS

1. Recertification unit credits from the ASQ

If you attend a Statistics & Reliability Discussion Group
meeting, you will earn .2 recertification units for "professional
development" from the American Society for Quality (ASQ).

2. Our Future Presentations

email me ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) with your suggestions.

Potential speakers should review our Yahoo Groups website file
"Presentation Pointers" written by Rosetrina Flaig, MBA to get some
helpful suggestions for making a great presentation.
