Quality Program Manager (QPM)

This company is the industry leader developing new products to present the world’s information based on plastic. The company has broad and deep intellectual property that is applicable across many markets. Its initial focus is on delivering industry-leading plastic displays that are flexible, thinner, lighter-weight and highly scalable in size, offering high viewing quality and low power consumption. The company’s headquarters are located in the Silicon Valley.


The person selected for this exciting position will be part of the Product Development group driving all Hardware Quality and Qualification testing activities (hardware) through the product lifecycle.   It is essential that the selected individual is capable of establishing the right Qualification plan for the products within cross-functional teams internally, and with our Original Design Manufacturers (EMS) partners. This person will ensure that the product design meets all quality, reliability, environmental, and legal/regulatory requirements. The main functions of the position require:

- Working with other internal groups in Regions outside the US to establish the Product Quality and Reliability goals for the product.
- The ideal candidate will develop and implement methodologies/techniques to enhance product reliability. They will be required to analyze and verify engineering design concepts at the product level of electro and mechanical products with our partners using simulation and test tools. They will be expected to propose design improvement based on analysis and results.
- The applicant should understand Physics-of-Failure and be able to develop and implement accelerated tests to mitigate risks and qualify engineering designs during product development. Candidate will be expected to be familiar with using acceleration models for common failure modes in electronic products to estimate product service life. Candidate should be capable of applying Design of Experiments (DOE) concepts to develop test plans to improve product robustness and performance.
- The individual should be able to use knowledge of product design and manufacturing to develop Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Knowledge of statistical techniques and models is required to analyze test data and estimate product life cycle performance.
- Candidate will be responsible to interface with manufacturing partners and component suppliers and develop strategy for qualification and standardizing methodologies and processes.
- Candidate will work with EMS partners to establish the specific test plans, research reliability specs, and apply this knowledge to meet overall Quality and Qualification goals and objectives.
- Candidate will manage the execution for all testing and qualification activities at the EMS and communicate to company management the status, impact analysis and recommendations regarding issues and risks.
- Provide leadership, guidance, direction and focus to assist cross functional team members managing qualification execution plans and schedules
- Championing processes, leading projects, initiatives, and investigations to improve product Quality for all products
- Key contact point for EMS product Quality and Qualification issues
- Conduct or participate in multidisciplinary process quality improvement / re-engineering, redesign of processes for implementation of quality processes in every area of the company: engineering, manufacturing, service, etc.
- Responsible for  WW 's Regulatory strategy and execution of our products: EMC, Safety, Product Environmental Issues, and Product Stewardship.
-  Manage the processes used by EMS labs to ensure all  testing and Qualification is documented per PL and External Regualtory Agency guidelines
o Influence the EMS's, wherever it makes sense, to adopt common specifications and test strategies to ensure efficient, cost effective, and timely product releases
o Be the focal point within company’s Product Quality Team to facilitate resolution of all test and Regulatory issues inconsistencies and incompatibility (EMS's, partners, component suppliers, etc.)
o Track industry trends for changes in Reliability methods, and Regulations standards and Directives and make recommendations that best fit the business strategy
o Manage the Product Stewardship program and initiatives for company.


Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree BSEE or BSME in a related field of study (EE or ME degree) with a minimum of 10+ years related experience, or equivalent experience. Master's degree is a plus.
•  Six plus (6+) years experience in Quality and Reliability engineering
• Experience in Consumer Electronics
•  Ability to advise and influence others over complex issues
•  Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously across businesses
•  Be a technical expert regarding technical trends, quality, reliability competition relating to product /process design and development
•  Desired: experience as a Certified Black Belt (or equivalent training)
•  Proven ability to lead projects and people (project management)
•  Ability to generate new and innovative solutions to complex problems
•  Demonstrated effective communication, presentation, negotiation, planning, organization, and facilitation of skills internally and with EMS partners
