Overview

As a senior member of the Software Quality Assurance (SQA) team in the Software Engineering group, the SQA Lead will play a key role in the quality and timely delivery of business-critical software systems. The SQA Lead will work with Project Management and User Groups to understand business requirements, represent SQA on cross-functional teams, plan, staff and manage all SQA activities for multiple releases in accordance with regulations, quality standards and design controls, supervise SQA Engineers and actively participate in testing. This includes both internal software developed at Genomic Health and external 3rd-party applications/systems. The SQA Lead is expected to have several years of software testing experience (manual and automated), proven project lead experience, the ability to write/maintain Engineering/Control documentation in a regulated environment and experience supervising SQA Engineers. This is a position with opportunity for significant visibility and impact in an innovative and dynamic cancer diagnostics company.

 

Responsibilities

• Work with Project Management and User Groups to evaluate and understand business requirements and set quality standards/timelines/resources for software releases
• Plan, staff and manage all SQA activities for several software releases in accordance with GHI's Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
• Directly supervise SQA Engineers
• Oversee and review all SQA documentation (Test Plans, Test Design Specifications, Automated Test Systems) required for and in accordance with regulations, quality standards and design controls
• Actively participate in design and functional review meetings
• Track defects and features for all releases and generate quality metrics reports
• Create and maintain training programs for new SQA Engineers
• Actively participate in testing

 

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge and participation in all phases of the SDLC for several shipped products
• Several years of hand-on testing experience (manual and automated)
• Proven ability to work with User Groups, Cross-Functional teams and Senior Management teams to define requirements, review design, resolve issues and plan releases
• Proven project lead experience, including execution and management of all SQA activities for software releases
• Experience leading small teams (4-10 SQA Engineers)
• Experience writing Engineering/Control documentation, including Requirements Documents, Functional Specifications, Test Plans, Release Notes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Excellent conflict resolution skills
• Experience with advanced features of defect tracking and source control tools
• Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience in a regulated environment (FDA), preferred
• 6+ years experience testing web-based and client/server applications or equivalent proven experience in a complex software engineering environment
• 3+ years experience leading SQA teams
• BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
